She is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.The scene of the drive-by shootingInjured is Jacqueline Lagnah of Lot 83 Leopold and Breda Streets, Charlestown, Georgetown.Reports are the incident occurred at about 11:20h as Lagnah was tending to customers in her grocery store, which is situated on the western end of the two-storey concrete building, where she resided and was shot twice to her lower back.This publication was told that on Tuesday evening, there was a brawl between a group of men at Lagnah’s shop. Investigators are working on a theory that the brawl may have stemmed Wednesday’s shooting.Guyana Times was told that on Tuesday at about 20:00h, a 40-year-old East Ruimveldt, Georgetown man and others were arguing at the shop.It is alleged that the disagreement was due to an accusation that one of the men reportedly robbed another’s friend.As the dispute continued on Wednesday, this publication understands two men of Penny Lane, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, went to Leopold and Breda Streets in a Toyota Premio, bearing registration plates PTT 9521 and opened fire.“The lady went inside she shop. She went looking after customers,” persons at the scene told this publication.As the gunmen left the scene, they were pursued by a Police patrol that was in the area. The car in which the men were travelling was intercepted at Penny Lane, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown where the duo was taken into custody.This newspaper was told that in 2016, one of the men arrested was shot three times by an ex-Cop during an altercation outside the ‘Wings and Things’ Bar, on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.Investigations are ongoing.
