Repeat offender granted bail for trafficking ecstasy

first_imgKenton Haynes of Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara (EBD) managed to get his pre-trial liberty on Friday after Police prosecutors failed to present an analysis report before the court which was requested some two months ago.Haynes, who was charged for trafficking in ecstasy pills, was represented by Attorney Dexter Todd and after a successful plead, bail was granted bail in the sum of $200,000 by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.Released on bail: Kenton HaynesIt stated that on November 7, 2019, at Albert Street, Georgetown, he had in his possession 190 ecstasy pills, a type of Amphetamine drug amounting to 101 grams.However, the prosecution requested that the court attach conditions to the bail. As such, the Chief Magistrate ordered the defendant to lodge his passport, and report to the Brickdam Police Station every Monday until the hearing and completion of the trial.The matter was adjourned until January 17, 2020.It was reported that ranks of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), acting on information, went to Albert Street, Georgetown where they contacted the defendant and carried out a search.It was during same that the aforementioned tablets were found in his possession.Back in 2018, Haynes was arrested with 559 Ecstasy pills weighing 219.7 grams after being busted by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) at Orange Walk, Georgetown.He was charged and released on $200,000 and is currently on trial for that charge as well.alast_img
