first_imgCALLS HAVE BEEN made for drivers to slow down in built up areas after a four-year-old girl was hospitalised after being knocked down.The girl is in a stable condition in St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny after being hit in an incident involving a car and a truck in the John Sweeney Park estate in Carlow this morning.LARSO, the Local Authority Road Safety Officers group, asked the public to take heed of their surroundings when driving.Their Road Safety Officer Declan Keogh says people should be extra vigilant while driving in housing estates.“We are appealing to everyone to be mindful of the fact that many young children and vulnerable people are out and about in housing estates, play areas and crossing roads, and we would urge everyone to be alert and watch out for these people, particularly in built up areas”.Gardaí in Carlow town are investigating the incident.Read: Young girl and three women killed in Westmeath road crashRead: Woman critical after crash which killed 8-year-old girllast_img
